SECOND TASK: SCAVENGER HUNT

This task is going to be a classic good ol’ SCAVENGER HUNT! Very simple: you have to find all the items on the list, photograph them and post them on your house forums. BUT REMEMBER – AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT – IN EVERY PICTURE SHOULD BE INCLUDED A SMALL PIECE OF PAPER WITH YOUR HOUSE NAME ON IT, SO WE KNOW YOU TOOK THE PHOTO. A PHOTO WITHOUT ‘PROOF’ WON’T BE COUNTED. Recording videos, if you see it’s necessary, is acceptable as well. You can upload the photos here if you don’t know how to: postimage.org . Here is the  list of items:

ANY HOUSE THAT FAILS TO SUBMIT BEFORE THE DEADLINE WILL HAVE ITS TASK POINTS REDUCED BY HALF, REGARDLESS OF POSITION.

FIRST TASK RESULTS – BLOGGERS’ HOUSE CUP

THE FIRST TASK IS OVER… AND THE RESULTS ARE IN!

BUT BEFORE I POST THEM (HAHAA), I need to say, thank you all SO. MUCH. for participating and engaging in out first House Cup. I was present with all of the houses and you all did AMAZING. TRULY. I didn’t expect this much work and passion to come from you for this game. It just goes to show how great our small community is. I hope you all have started making friendships within the game, and that it will go on even after it’s over!

Here is what one of the judges, who happens to be the Slaytherin Nights Head of House in the GagaDaily House Cup I took part in, had to say about your submissions as a whole:

This task sounded so fun to me ever since I read the details, and I really hope it was fun working on it. In my opinion all the teams did an amazing job and put their hearts into it, which I’m very happy about – the spirit is essentially what makes or breaks the game. All the entries were creative and I enjoyed listening to/watching all of them. The task is definitely a bit subjective and the ratings will always be subjective to the judge’s point of view. All that being said, all submissions had their better and “worse” parts, and I tried to objectively rate them, but I definitely don’t dare say that what I said about them is the absolute truth and that I can’t be wrong. Let me finish by saying that I think you all did great and if you keep this up, the game will be great and enjoyable no matter who wins.

Now, time for serious business. Ladies and gentlemen, the ranking will begin in a few moments, starting with the 4th place up to the first.

FIRST TASK: MAGICALLY MUSICAL – BLOGGERS’ HOUSE CUP

IT IS THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES!

STUDENTS SCURRY THROUGH THE HALLS, GATHERING AROUND THE DASHBOARDS TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY HAVE THROWN THEMSELVES INTO.

FIRST TASK: MAGICALLY MUSICAL

You and your Housemates will decide upon one song. Any song. Your Head of House will make the final decision and report the song back to me.

The song you pick will then become the theme song to your house throughout this competition.

But wait! You’re not gonna sneak away that easily.

You and your team mates are going to change the lyrics of the song to fit your house.

No holds barred: you can come up with anything you want, from boasting your house values to roasting the other houses…

 

And the best part is (at least for me it is)…

You are going to be recording this song!

Nevermind your singing skills, you need to give it LIFE. You can either pick a member to sing the whole song, make it a duet, assign each part to each member, or even get a friend of yours to sing it.

The song must be uploaded to any video platform you feel comfortable with, and will be accompanied by a video. The video can be anything you want, from a slideshow to a lyric video to an actual music video.

Seeing as this is your first task and I want you to do your best, you will have ten days to submit your entry.

Throughout the competition, the tasks will be judged by a panel of independent judges who will be completely unbiased.

Points will be given for the song choice, the cleverness of the lyrics, the creativity of the video, and the presentation as a whole.

Points will be distributed as such:

1st Place: 50 points

2nd Place: 45 points

3rd Place: 35 points

4th Place: 30 points

DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 11:59 PM EST.

Blogwarts Boards is the forum where most of the House Cup will be taking place. In addition, Tasks and Results will be announced weekly both on this blog and on the forums.

A warm welcome awaits you in the Great Hall, and prefects will lead you to your respective Common Rooms, which means you will then have to register to your respective house forums. Applications will be reviewed by me, to make sure no students sneak into other houses’ common rooms!

Enjoy your first few days at Blogwarts by holding discussions, chatting with friends and meeting new students. Everybody’s free to start up a thread in the Great Hall and get people talking, from Harry Potter, to any books or fandoms, to real life advice, to social debates.

On Monday, CLASSES OFFICIALLY BEGIN! Which means the respective house boards will open, the First Task will be revealed, and thus the race for the elusive House Cup will begin. Prepare yourselves for all kinds of wicked challenges and surprise minigames throughout the competition! The more active you are, the more points you will earn your house, and the better chance you have at WINNING THE HOUSE CUP!

Prefects and Heads of Houses are encouraged to grant House Points whenever they see a student deserves it. Worry not though, we won’t pull any Dumbledore-robs-Slytherin-from-their-House-Cup move à la Philosphers’ Stone. Any awarded (or deducted!) house points will be reported to me so that I can modify the leaderboards.

If you need any help with schoolwork, feel free to consult your house Prefect or Head of House. If they see it fit, they will pass it on to the Headmawkward Blogger, A.K.A me.

As the newbies gather around the Sorting Hat in the Great Hall, the tension is high. The Headmawkward Blogger stands serenely by the side, excited to see where his first ever students will be sorted.

‘May I have your attention please?’ He asks calmly.

The ongoing chit-chat hints to him that he may not have it after all.

‘Sonorus’ he says pointing to his throat. ‘WILL YOU GIVE ME YOUR BLOODY ATTENTION YOU LITTLE – ahem – I think that will do. Very well! Welcome, welcome, to our humble school! I am so very pleased to see you all here ready to learn’

‘Learn?’ says Elm. ‘LOL. I’m here to win that cup!’

‘Gurl bye’, says L. ‘I’m here for the banquets.’

‘Very well… Then… I guess we’ll eat!’ declares the Headmawkward Blogger.

‘NO!’ they all cry out.

‘Is this old dude for real?’ snaps  Selfie.

‘We want to get sorted first!’ inquires Luna.

‘Fine, fine’ retorts the old dude. ‘You will all take the Sorting Hat test and shall be sorted into the most fitting house! Also, I will be randomly choosing a Head of House and a Prefect for each house. Most importantly, be honest. Good luck!’

1 Year Blogaversary – THANK YOU!

Oh my God.
It’s been a year already.
Exactly one year ago, after months of wanting to, I finally went to WordPress and registered a blog. This blog.
And boy, has it been a ride since then.
I said it before, and I’ll say it again: you guys are the absolute sweetest people in the whole world. I can only dream of meeting people like you in my everyday life. Your comments have never failed to make me smile. If it weren’t for you, I’d have dropped this whole thing a few months in.
Writing my thoughts out, and especially knowing that they will be read by somebody, is such a liberating experience. I know I have you guys. Just look at my last few posts! Overwhelming support, even from those if you who are new to my blog! I posted the same thing on another forum, and all I got was a few likes. And that’s from people I interract with on a daily basis.
I know I have been posting less frequently in the last few months, but I am happy with the way things are. If I force myself to write posts I don’t feel like writing, this whole thing will become a chore, which it is NOT supposed to be. I want my blog to be a place I can escape to, not from.
And as I promised you, I AM planning a huge community game, and as I also promised, the announcement will be coming soon. Not Gaga soon. Soon soon. One-month-before-Hogwarts-traditionally-opens-its-doors soon 😉

I loved sharing my life with you guys. And I know, one day, I’ll look back to these posts and be swept away by nostalgia and happy memories… Ah man.

This is called a ‘carnet’ (french for report card). You can see my finals scores in the box I pointed to in red:

SEVENTEEN AND A FUCKIN HALF!!!11

That’s like, way above any expectations for people in my class (11th). I think I explained how our ridiculously strange grading system works in some post. Basically this is great 😀

I am so happy to have ended the school year like this. I have the highest total between people in my grade! First time this year. YAS. Slay.

Again, as usual my parents were like politely indifferent (good job son :D) while my lazy sister got promised a fucking camera for getting 14 and a half. I get nothing, AGAIN, AS USUAL, because a) I’ve had good grades all my life and b) I’m working now!
Please explain this logic: I work my ass off every day while my sister goes to the beach and watches TV all the time, I get top scores in my grade while she barely moves a finger, yet SHE’s the one being rewarded because I’m making my own money. Right? Because I’m ‘making’ it. Not like working hard in the sun with obnoxious people to earn it.

Anyway, whatever, I’m happy this way. Not like ‘happy’ but content.

Yesterday was the first time I got paid for work, ever. It wasn’t my paycheck, just tips (they collect everything and divide it between employees every week end). It was about 60$. On one hand, it felt great. Finally, my work is paying off (literally). On the other hand, it felt stupid, almost like a joke, that I was giving up all this summer time I’m supposed to be enjoying just for these couple pieces of paper.

Still it was a cause for celebration, so I took my mom and sister out to a dessert café, Dip ‘N’ Dip, and we had DELICIOUS crepes. Just look ugh:

Mom didn’t let me pay for everything so we split the bill. Still, it felt good to know that I earned that fettucini crepe.

Wow. I started this post last week and every day I’ve written a bit. I started talking about tests and now I’m raming about crepes. It’s like a game of broken telephone. With myself. Because I’m so lonely.

Aaaaanyway, I’ve seen the response to my last post suggesting a blogger game (Bloggers’ House Cup!) and it’s very positive, so it’s settled! I’m going to start working on it. I’ll set everything up, discretely contact people to be Heads of Houses (look out!), come up with a task plan, and one day when you’ll least expect it it will all BEGINNNNN.

I have a proposition for YOU, bloggeurz – Bloggers’ House Cup!

Hey yall! How are you doing?

Let’s get straight to the point.

Would you like to participate in a community game?

As you may know, I’ve been absent from the blogging world for quite a while. While most of you were evolving and growing your blogging connections, I was like not. That’s why I want to do something to compensate, get to know you all better and maybe bring this community together.

We’re doing something similar on another site I’m visiting (I talked about it in earlier posts) and I think it’d be perfect if we had a blogger version!

The name of da game: Bloggers’ House Cup.

Blogwarts School of WordCraft and Bloggery opens its doors for the first time to welcome all bloggers into its four Houses: Gryffindraft, Hufflepost, Ravenclick, and Slikerin. The Headmawkward Blogger will guide you through your entire school year, from your sorting ’til the House Cup ceremomy, where the best house will be crowned.

So basically, we’ll all be split into houses, and each week we’ll have tasks you’ll work on as a team. For communication, we’ll  create a forum for each house so that they can discuss their task progress, stay updated, or just chat 🙂 Each week the submissions will be ranked from best to worst and house points will be given accordingly. At the end of the competition, the house with the most points wins the title!

For this to work, we’ll have to get as many participants, of course. Whether you’re a blogger on any platform, or a reader, even if your siblings want to join! Let me know in the comments so that this event can start taking place. I’m so excited! 😀
